Ana Cockerill is a Brazilian artist and a state registered Art Psychotherapist. She has lived in London since 1987.
For the last four years, her art work has drawn inspiration from a personal observation of ordinary things, and it has examined the relationship between image and object and the link between person and object.
In her continuous observation, she has explored the idea that "everything around us has their particular history and can present lots of information, which can be read and interpreted according to what we have learned, to what we feel, or to what we really desire".
She has used her observation to create 2D artworks in a variety of media, including a combination of traditional and digital design, photography, and painting. Concurrently, she creates other bodies of work, such as temporary installations, which are, afterwards, photographed and "re-invented”, and 'found object' sculptures. Part of her work has been developed in series , in which subjective narratives evolving from an interplay between images and metaphors are sometimes expressed.
Ana Cockerill has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and a Pg Dip (MA) in Art Psychotherapy acquired at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has exhibited in England and abroad. She also conducts private Art Therapy sessions in her studio.
