Picture
I am a Spanish-Galician artist and I have lived in London since 1995. At age 15 I studied painting with artist Santiago Montes and later went to study Fine Art at Salamanca and Barcelona Universities.

I paint, write poetry and work therapeutically with children using art and other forms of creative expression. I am currently training in counselling and psychotherapy. I have exhibited in the UK and Spain. My work is in private collections in the UK, Spain, France and Japan.

My work has developed in series in which a diversity of layers of meaning, references and ideas interplay. In 'Samil Revisited', which is my most recent body of work, I recall memories of my aesthetic experience of nature and the landscape of the Galician seashore.

I am currently working on a new body of work called 'Ancestors', made out of assembling numerous used tea-bags. This work is linked to a feeling for the ancient, a subjective sense of imaginary ancestors, trans-cultural connexions, especially Africa, India and Europe, the Pre-Romanic Europe and the Muslim heritage in the Iberian Peninsula together with my own inherited sense of the western modern and world postmodern traditions. I have also been influenced by contemporary African artists. I hope that this work will resonate, at a deep individual level, both conscious and unconscious, with people from different spiritual and cultural traditions.
