Roan Allen lives and works in London. After an early apprenticeship as a heavy goods vehicle engineer, he studied Typography and studio techniques as part of a Graphic Design Foundation at London College of Communication (1996-1998). Immediately afterwards he entered Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design to study Product Design and graduated in 2001.
His diverse installation pieces take familiar objects through a methodical process of transformation, forcing a reappraisal of the nature and power of the object and the individual's relationship to it. However, the material simplicity of the objects he chooses to use, often mask a complex philosophical conundrum.
