Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about hiring the space, installation, and gallery management.
1. General Hire & Access
What is included in the hire fee?
The hire fee covers the exclusive use of the gallery space (Ground Floor & Lower Ground Floor), professional lighting system, hanging system, Wi-Fi, and shared kitchenette access. It serves strictly as a venue hire.
Is the gallery wheelchair accessible?
The Ground Floor is accessible via a portable ramp available on-site. However, please note that the Lower Ground Floor and toilet facilities are accessible only via stairs.
Do you provide staff or invigilation?
No. The Organiser/Hirer is fully responsible for supervising the gallery, opening/closing daily, and welcoming visitors. We recommend having at least one person per floor when both are open.
Can I share the exhibition with other artists?
Yes. The space is suitable for solo shows or groups. You are welcome to organize a collective exhibition, but one person must act as the "Lead Organiser" for the contract and payments.
2. Installation & Artworks
Can I drill into the walls?
Strictly No. No nails, screws, drilling, or Blu Tack are permitted on the walls. All artworks must be hung using the Gallery’s professional hanging system (cords and hooks) provided.
How does the hanging system work?
We provide nylon cords (for works up to 7kg) and steel rods (for works between 7kg-10kg). Your artworks must be framed or prepared with "D-rings" on the back to attach to the hooks.
What happens if I damage the walls?
Walls must be returned in the same condition. Any marks, adhesive residue, or damage will incur a professional repair fee (£250 for Ground Floor, £300 for Lower Ground Floor) per day.
3. Sales & Commission
Does Espacio Gallery take commission on sales?
No (0%). If you manage your own sales directly with buyers (using your own card reader or bank transfer), we do not take any commission.
If you explicitly request the Gallery to process payments on your behalf, a 30% commission + VAT applies.
Do you provide a card machine?
No. Organisers should bring their own card reader (e.g., SumUp, Zettle) to handle sales directly.
4. Logistics & Events
When can I deliver my artworks?
Artworks must be delivered only on your designated setup day (usually Wednesday morning). We do not have storage space to accept deliveries before your hire period begins.
Can I serve alcohol at my Private View?
Yes. You may serve complimentary (free) alcohol. If you intend to sell alcohol, you must apply for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) from the local council.
What about insurance?
The Gallery holds Public Liability Insurance for visitors. However, this does not cover your artworks. You are strongly advised to arrange your own insurance for theft, damage, or transit.
