Keren Meguira creates abstract work. Even when there are some interferences of representational aspects, the abstract form remains essential to her as she thinks it is the only way to transcend reality.
When she is painting she follows a "creative impulsion"; a spontaneous gesture, the burst of feelings and energy coming from deep inside her, which is followed by the harmony of colours and movement. Her approach is instinctive and, in a way, the painting guides her in the creative process. Then the interpretation is left up to the imagination of the viewer.
Her artworks are a reflection of her feelings and she has a strong emotional connection with her past. She re-imagines her memories from her travels in South America and explores the parallel world through a subjective interpretation of the world with an emotional impact of colour. As an idealist, she tries to escape from the material world through her artwork. Painting works for her as a catharsis; it makes her spirit soar, freeing up her internal world from her passion and rage.
She uses different forms of media including oil, acrylic, metal paint and various materials.
Keren was born in Paris and currently lives and works in London.
