Picture
I combine observation with imagination and memory. I am interested in the emotional potential of landscape. Colour always has been a strong element for me as a vivid medium contributing to the communication of feelings and ideas.

Global warming and climate change is a major concern for me. This is reflected particularly in my paintings inspired by my trip to Alaska and also in my recent ceramic sculptures. I was born in Germany in 1944 and have been based in London for many years. I received a BA in Fine Arts in 1994 from the University of Hertfordshire. I then continued my studies at Central St Martins College of Art in London and I have been exhibiting continuously since then. I also worked as a psychotherapist in private practice.

During the last couple of years my work has been mainly focused on issues of climate change. My body of work mainly consist of acrylic on canvas and on board as well as ceramic sculptures. Sometimes I include human figures in my paintings which can be considered as a connection element with the viewer’s dimension.

I have been particularly inspired by early modernist painters such as Kandinsky and Klee and by contemporary artists such Peter Doig and Barbara Rae. Together with the poet John Hands I have produced several illustrated books.
