Finding himself at a loose end following a serious accident Paul happened to pick up a paintbrush, started to paint and hasn’t stopped since.
Initially inspired by the work of Terry Frost, Ben Nicholson, Bridget Reilly and Mark Rothko Paul found himself intrigued by the possibility of using simple shapes, colour and texture to create art. He enjoys experimenting with materials such as sand and glass, as well as working in a wide range of mediums. Paul’s work has been categorized as Abstract, Geometric and Conceptual but he has yet to label himself. He lives in Essex but enjoys spending time in Cornwall and loves the ruggedness and beauty of the County. Its colours and scenery have influenced much of Paul’s recent work.
Paul has exhibited and sold work in Essex, London and Cornwall and has his work in private collections around the country.
What Paul has come to realize is that you never stop learning from and about art. This has enabled him to meet some talented and inspirational people. He enjoys the fact that one work can be loved by some and disliked by others but that there is somewhere, amongst all the artists, styles and materials, a piece of work that speaks to you.
Paul hopes you enjoy his work and as the artist John Craxton said:
“If you like my art I thank you. If not then I am sorry for wasting your time.”
