My work is an ongoing experiment with abstraction and the relationship between the figurative and other realities that lay beyond the surface of what we see.
I am inspired by the world around me and enjoy seeing the creative potential of everyday objects, spaces and their transformative qualities - how shapes and forms, shadow and light, textures and surfaces as well as 'the real' all offer a minefield of visual possibilities for abstraction. My work may also include a social or personal context as a means of engaging and connecting with the audience at a broader level and to provoke thought and different interpretations.
Painting has been my main medium but I also enjoy experimenting with mixed media, found materials, collage, printmaking, reliefs and sculpture. The important thing for me is to continually expand upon and develop my artistic practice through the use of different techniques, materials and processes, to find inner expression and explore the vastness of visual experience.
I have studied primarily at the City Lit and Mary Ward Centre in London where I have undertaken advanced courses in fine art incorporating painting, drawing, mixed media sculpture, print making and contextual studies.
My aim now is to continue to develop my creative practice, make connections with other artists and find opportunities to exhibit and sell my work where possible.
