Rosana Miracco - Espacio Gallery
My creative process is intuitive. Though I consider myself as being an artist since I was young, I see myself as no different from anyone else.

Barbara Hepworth is a great inspiration. Although she was a sculptor, and I deal with paintings, installations and performances, her strength and persistency bring enthusiasm to my artwork. Another influence is Kandinski, an abstract master. My art is also abstract with the influence of Fauvism, showing vulnerability and naivety in colours and shapes.

My artwork reflects the concrete impossibility of real life. As a child I used to question why certain fruits are certain colours; why is a banana yellow and not pink? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could change the colour of things if we wanted? Perhaps make the sky green and the trees orange. Art gives us the freedom to make this possible.

One aspect of my art is that I use any material available at the time when I want to create something. For example, if I have only a blue ink bottle I will make it look red if I have too.

If viewers are confused by my work, rather than understanding it, I feel I have succeeded in my intention. I prefer the viewers to not know “what is going in on in my head”.
